ABOUT THE MÉTIS SUMMER BREAK SUPPLEMENT
The Métis Summer Break Supplement is offered, for Métis Citizen families with Métis children school age, entering Kindergarten to age twelve (12) years old.
MNBC's Ministry of Education can provide funding for children entering Kindergarten to age twelve (12) for Métis families to access Métis Nation British Columbia (MNBC) summer supplement of up to $500.00 per child, per month (July and August).
This is not in addition to Métis Child Care Benefit (MCCB) funding but is a supplement when MCCB funding is not claimed. The Summer Break Supplement is designed to support families who are unable to access more formal child care arrangements during summer school break.
We have expanded our Summer Break supplement to include extra-curricular activities when formal child care is not available.
*Please note this is not an Extra-Curricular Reimbursement Program but a support for families that are unable to access formal child care during the summer break.
Programs can be recreational programs with social opportunities for children to enjoy interactions and activities in fun, supervised, learning environments.
Recognizable programs are the following:
- The program must take place within the province of British Columbia
- Programs may be offered by community centers, neighborhood houses, or others.
- Programs do not include overnight programming.
- Programs do not include camp experiences where parents accompany their children.
