
Winter and Spring Break Supplement Information
The Métis Winter and Spring Break Supplement is a benefit to help Métis families with the cost of school break programs. The Supplement will not exceed a maximum of $500.00 per child combined for Winter 2025 and Spring 2026 Breaks.
The program must be over 3 hours per day. This funding does not support skills development camps/programs that are improving skills in sport, art, or specific development, and school professional development days, or other school closures. This funding will be available to families to assist with the costs of their childcare needs during Winter and Spring Break closures.
Programs can be recreational programs with social opportunities for children to enjoy interactions and activities in fun, supervised, learning environments. Recognizable programs are the following:
- The program must take place within the province of British Columbia.
- Programs may be offered by community centers, neighbourhood houses, or others.
Eligibility
- Parent or child must be an MNBC citizen. You can access the registry here: MNBC HUB
- Programs can be recreational programs with social opportunities for children to participate in learning environments when formal childcare is not available.
- Programs do not include overnight programming.
- Your child/children need to be enrolled in the Métis Family Connections Program. For more information on this program, please visit:
- This is not in addition to the Métis Child Care Benefit Program funding.
- Your child/children are school age from Kindergarten to 12 years old.
- Must be pre-approved to qualify.
Acceptable required documentation
- Direct link to program website (ensure this link is directly to the program you are applying for).
- Uploaded screenshot of desired program.
- Complete schedule of programs, including dates, cost, and organization.

After you apply
You will receive a letter explaining acceptance or denial of the supplement. An acceptance letter will indicate approval details, including the supplement amount. This supplement will not pay for program fees in advance. Parents must pay all fees upfront and provide proof of purchase for reimbursement from MNBC.

The completed program must match the original approval. A new application is required if the program is changed. All applications must be completed, received and approved prior to the program start date.
