My name is Danielle (all pronouns). I have Métis and French ancestors centered from the Rat River area in Manitoba.I am grateful to live on the traditional and ancestral land of the Kwantlen, Qayqayt, Semiahmoo, Katzie, Kwikwetlem, and Tsawwassen First Nations.
I work as the Natural Resources Consultation Manager, ensuring that Métis are able to provide feedback on major development projects or federal regulations. My educational background is as an freshwater aquatic biologist, meaning I've spent a lot of time getting stuck in wetlands looking for frogs, bush-whacking to get into small creeks, and untangling my fishing line while everyone else caught fish.
I am Stuart Dixon, honoured to serve as the Director of Economic Development for Métis Nation British Columbia (MNBC). Coming from a lineage deeply rooted in business, ranging from commercial fishing to contracting, I carry a profound appreciation for entrepreneurship and responsible resource management.
In my capacity, I am dedicated to advancing MNBC's economic strategies, rooted in our traditional knowledge and aimed at fostering sustainable growth throughout British Columbia. With academic foundations in Geography and GIS from Vancouver Island University and SAIT Polytechnic, complemented by extensive professional experience in forestry, banking, and environmental planning, I am equipped to effectively lead our initiatives.
Whether it involves amplifying Métis business engagement in emerging markets or supervising the development of cultural landmarks such as Point Ellice House, my objective is to create opportunities that resonate with the values and aspirations of our Métis communities.
