The Métis Harm Reduction Gatherings are a time to bring together community to learn about services available in community, share teachings around healing and culture, and share perspectives of what Métis harm reduction is. The morning's agenda focuses on cultural teachings and presentations from Knowledge Carriers and Khiteyak (Elders) within the community who hold knowledge in harm reduction and healing. We will also have visitors from local organizations and health authority to share what resources and services are available.
The afternoon, we will host a sharing circle for our Métis community members with lived and living experiences of substance use and addiction to share experiences, knowledge, and wisdom. The knowledge shared within community will go to inform a harm reduction framework that will inform services and programs offered at MNBC that weave culture and community into Harm Reduction. To honor the strength, time, and effort it takes to share one's perspectives and wisdom, honoraria will be provided.
