Western Canada Marine Response Corporation (WCMRC) is a Transport Canada certified Response Organization, whose mandate is to ensure there is a state of preparedness in place and to mitigate the impact when an oil spill occurs. This includes the protection of wildlife, economic and environmental sensitivities, and the safety of both the responders and the public. WCMRC is currently recruiting for a Maintenance and Engineering Intern to support the Engineering & Maintenance department at our Coquitlam, BC location. The responsibilities and duties of this position include:
• Reviews vessel engineering drawings inventory
• Coordinates document archives • Ensures all technical drawings and vessel documentation is consistent and adheres to internal standards
• May assist Marine Engineering Manager on docking projects
• Provides administrative support for the Engineering & Maintenance department
Requirements: Working towards a post-secondary degree or diploma with an interest in marine engineering, response readiness or emergency response. Strong written and oral communications ability, and intermediate computer skills including Microsoft 365. Strong attention to detail. Experience reading vessel technical drawings an asset. Experience with SharePoint/Computerized Maintenance Management System is an asset.
