Elders Temporary Financial Support

Regretfully the Elders Temporary Financial Assistance (ETFA) program is now closed. ETFA was a program to aid low-income Métis Citizen Elders/Seniors whose income has been impacted by COVID-19 to obtain groceries, household goods, or medications. The program was closed as the COVID-19 recovery funds have been exhausted. 

*Please know we are and will continue to look for opportunities to reopen this program 

Ministry of Elders has the Métis Elders and Senior Assistance Program (MESAP), which aids lower income Métis Citizens Elders & Seniors purchase health-related necessities not covered by the BC Medical Services Plan (MSP). Elders/Seniors can use the funds for the purchase of items including hearing aids, dentures, walkers, glasses, and more.

Background 

The Ministry of Elders is assisting our low-income Métis Citizen Elders/Seniors whose income has been impacted by COVID-19 to obtain groceries, household goods or medications.
 

Eligibility 
Must be a registered Métis Nation BC Citizen.  
Low-income Elders/Seniors that are 60 years of age or more, that are single, widowed or divorced with an income of $30,000 or less.
Married, common-law spouses with an income of $50,000 or less.

Demonstrates that COVID-19 has impacted their income or their ability to obtain groceries, household goods or medications. 

Additional Information 
Applicants that have not received funding in the past may apply for funding
Previous applicants that have received funding in the past, will be waitlisted and contacted when funds become available. 
Métis Elders/Seniors that are single may qualify for $500
Métis Elders/Seniors that are married/common-law may qualify up to $750 (partners do not need to be Métis)
