About The Event
Ask the Elders is a two-day event that brings Métis youth, elders and knowledge carriers across British Columbia in one (virtual) circle to share stories, and learn about cultural traditions around healing and well-being from a Métis perspective.
As we aim to promote cultural revitalization and cultural wellness, this experience does so by bringing youth and Elders together. Over the course of these two days, youth will engage and experience virtually: cultural workshops, an Elder interview panel and teachings about plant medicines.
Overview
November 18, 2023
Day 1 features a workshop with Lorelei Lyons. Participants will learn teachings on Medicine Pouches and plant medicines, such as sweetgrass and sage. Each participant will receive a medicine pouch kit.
November 25, 2023
Day 2 features an Elder and Knowledge carrier panel emceed by Jordan Waunch, along with a Wolf Willow Berry Rosary Making workshop by Métis Herbalist Kodiak Herbal.
Wolf Willow berries are traditionally gathered to make beautiful natural rosaries by Métis. In this workshop, you will learn to clean and pierce beads to make your own rosary.
