Walking Like Warriors: Community Self-Defence

-
Location
Burnside Gorge Community Centre (471 Cecelia Rd, Victoria, B.C. V8T 4T4)

Walking Like Warriors is a program designed to build confidence through movement, safety skills, and cultural pride. This isn't a high-intensity gym class; it’s a supportive space to learn valuable life skills at your own pace.

Join Métis Nation BC and Métis Nation Greater Victoria for Walking Like Warriors on April 18, 2026!

Workshop Highlights:

  • Practical Self-Defence: Learn basic escapes and awareness strategies that are easy to remember and apply.
  • Empowerment Drills: Interactive movement exercises rooted in martial arts that build physical confidence.
  • Resilience & Reflection: A space to discuss how cultural strength and movement support our collective well-being.
  • Family-Focused: Activities are structured so that all generations can participate together.

All Levels Welcome

We believe safety and wellness should be accessible to everyone. The workshop is fully adaptable for seated participation and those with low mobility. No previous martial arts experience is necessary.
