Métis Nation British Columbia Applauds the Removal of Dallas Brodie from the BC Conservative Caucus

Statement – For Immediate Release

March 7, 2025: SURREY, BC – Métis Nation British Columbia (MNBC) commends BC Conservative Leader John Rustad for doing the right thing by removing Dallas Brodie, the MLA for Vancouver-Quilchena, from the Conservative Caucus. Her complete disregard for the truth and eagerness to publicly mock the horrific experience Indigenous peoples endured in the Indian Residential School system caused undue harm on an already vulnerable population. While we applaud Mr. Rustad for Ms. Brodie’s removal, these are not objective truths for Métis people. They are our lived experiences, the truth about what we endured in Residential Schools, the losses we suffered, and our resilience as people to find our voice again.

Words matter, our truth matters, and we will always stand up against people who choose to use their position of authority to cause undue harm. We are the victims in this story, and we will not continue to be victimized by people like Ms. Brodie. Today, John Rustad and the Conservatives made the right choice by standing with us against those who would do us harm.

On Behalf of the Board,

Walter Mineault

President, Métis Nation British Columbia
