About the Opportunity
This position is offered through the Canada Summer Jobs program and is a great opportunity for students or youth looking to gain hands-on experience in a professional, team-based environment.
You will prepare, edit, and proofread documents such as correspondence, reports, invoices, and presentations, while also managing mail distribution, responding to inquiries, and maintaining filing systems.
The role supports the day-to-day operations of the Métis Child Care Benefit program, including assisting Child Care Navigators, supporting providers with invoicing processes, and completing administrative tasks such as data entry, Excel reporting, and communication with families and service providers. You will also help track program outcomes, maintain accurate data, and support reporting and monitoring activities.
This role offers valuable, practical experience for those interested in program support, or administrative careers.
As per Canada Summer Jobs program requirements, candidates must be:
- Between 15 and 30 years of age (inclusive) at start of employment
- A Canadian Citizen, permanent resident, or a person on whom refugee protection has been conferred under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act
- Legally entitled to work according to BC legislation and regulation.
- International students are not eligible. Recent immigrants are eligible if they are Canadian Citizens or permanent residents.
Job Duties
- Prepare, key in, edit, and proofread correspondence, invoices, presentations, brochures, reports, and other materials from dictation and handwritten documents
- Receive, sort, and distribute incoming mail (physical and electronic) and coordinate information flow internally and externally
- Respond to telephone and electronic inquiries and relay messages as needed
- Set up and maintain manual and computerized filing and information systems
- Compile data, statistics, and other information to support research and reporting activities
- Support Child Care Navigators in day-to-day operations of the Métis Child Care Benefit (MCCB) program
- Assist child care providers with MCCB invoicing processes
- Perform administrative tasks including creating Excel documents, data entry, data collection, invoicing, and contacting families and service providers
- Develop and report on key outcomes, targets, and service delivery statistics to support monitoring and evaluation
- Maintain accurate records to support evidence-based practices, invoicing, and program reporting
- Use and adapt to various technologies (e.g., Word, Excel, databases, and other software)
- Handle sensitive information with confidentiality
- Assist MCCB Administration team in daily tasks
- Collaborate effectively in an office and team environment (experience considered an asset)
Education
- In pursue of or holding College diploma/University degree in related field
