Join the Sash & Swish Basketball Challenge with the MNBC Ministry of Sport and Active Living, coach Corey Breland, and the Vancouver Bandits.
Sash & Swish Basketball Challenge is a high-energy basketball program for Métis youth (ages 13-18) designed to promote lifelong healthy habits through sport. Players will join in eight weekly sessions for basketball skill development led by Métis coaches to boost physical literacy and support mental well-being.

| Capstone Event: | June 13, 2026 (at Langley Events Centre) On-court session followed by a Bandits game |
Highlights:
- Weekly Skill Development: Tuesday night sessions at Coast Meridian Elementary focusing on foundational footwork, ball handling, shooting mechanics, and more.
- The 3x3 Tournament: On June 9, we put your development to the test with a fast-paced 3x3 tournament - a high-energy showcase of skill, teamwork, and sportsmanship.
- Professional Mentorship: Gain professional-level insights through our partnership with the Vancouver Bandits, featuring guest appearances and elite-level drills.
- The LEC Capstone Experience: On Saturday, June 13, the challenge culminates at the Langley Events Centre with an exclusive on-court session in the arena bowl, followed by a Vancouver Bandits home game to celebrate the program’s success and Métis culture.
All Skill Levels Welcome
While the program focuses on technical basketball development, it is designed to meet you where you are. Our coaches prioritize fundamental movement skills in the early weeks to ensure every participant, from beginners to seasoned players, can improve their coordination, fitness, on-court skills, and more.

Coach Cory Breland is a dedicated Métis community member and basketball coach with a deep passion for youth development.
The Vancouver Bandits is B.C.’s professional basketball team. Bandits' staff and players bring professional-grade mentorship to the Sash & Swish Basketball Challenge.
