Sea to Sky Youth Spring Plant Walk

Calling all Métis youth with a passion for nature and being outdoors!

We are excited to invite you to join us for a guided plant walk through the beautiful trails at the Sea to Sky Gondola in Squamish on Saturday, May 24, 2025.

This is a great opportunity to explore local ecosystems and geography, learn about different plants, and contribute to environmental research. You’ll also be introduced to citizen science tools like iNaturalist, where you can help identify and catalogue the magnificent species around you!

About the Event

Guided walks:
The first trail option is Wonderland Lake Loop (1.6 km)
- Estimated time: 30 to 60 minutes
- Elevation gain: 40 m
Listed as a beginner/intermediate trail. This loop follows granite rock bluffs, open meadows, and coastal forest with several viewpoints offering views of the beautiful surrounding peaks. The trail follows a boardwalk around the lake, providing a glimpse of the flora and fauna of the local ecosystem.
The second trail option is the Highline trail (1.4 km)
- Estimated time: 30 to 60 minutes
- Elevation gain: 60m
Listed as an intermediate trail. This loop includes a short climb and emerges from the forest onto a ridge overlooking the summit lodge with views of Howe Sound and the Tantalus Mountain Range. The trail includes some steep scrambles and rope-assisted sections.

*Please note: Depending on the size of the group and the capacity of the guides, participants may not be guaranteed their first choice of hike.
A shuttle service will be provided for youth attending the event from outside of Squamish. There will be two pick-up locations and travel to these locations will be reimbursed.
First stop:
- Hyatt Regency Hotel (655 Burrard St, Vancouver, BC V6C 2R7)
- Shuttle departs at 7:45 am
Second stop:
- Park Royal (address TBD)
- Shuttle departs at 8:10 AM
