$77,718.46 - $99,452.15 annually

BC Timber Sales (BCTS) is a unique program of the Ministry of Forests. Working collaboratively with regional and district operations, BCTS plans, develops, and auctions a substantial portion of the province’s annual available timber volume. The Seedling and Reforestation Specialist is responsible for the acquisition of quality tree seedlings grown under contract at private nurseries. They provide expert advice and guidance to BCTS staff regarding seedlings and reforestation practices. The role manages seedling supply and service contracts, conducts and provides direction respecting seedling quality inspections and assessment, and ensures the integrity, utility and accessibility of stock and seedlings data.

Qualifications for this role include:

• BSc. in forestry, or other relevant field with a focus on forestry and five (5) years of current progressive and directly related forestry experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Registered, or immediately eligible for registration as a Professional Forester with the Association of B.C. Forest Professionals (FPBC).
• Experience in forest resource management.
• Experience with contract administration, monitoring and quality control.

Preference may be given to applicants with one (1) or more of the following:

• Experience in forest resource management, specifically in reforestation and silviculture.
• Experience in testing and assessing tree seedlings and conducting statistical analysis.
