District Manager
$105,900.12 - $140,800.04 annually
The Ministry of Forests is responsible for supporting a sustainable and competitive future for BC’s forest sector, while taking action to keep forests healthy and protect communities in the face of climate change and extreme weather events.
The District Manager leads initiatives that cross the natural resource sector. As such, the successful candidate requires excellent cultural awareness, problem solving, communication and change management skills with the ability to exercise a high degree of judgement in an environment of constant change, business transformation and shifting roles and responsibilities. Conflict resolution and issues mediation skills are also an important component of the position to successfully address and balance competing priorities within and external to government.
Qualifications for this role include:
• Master’s Degree (or higher) in Resource Management or related studies and minimum of five (5) years’ experience in resource management; OR,
• Bachelor’s Degree in Resource Management or related studies and minimum of seven (7) years’ experience in resource management; OR,
• Technical Diploma in Resource Management or related studies and minimum ten (10) years’ experience in resource management; OR,
• An equivalent combination of education and/or experience may be considered.
• Experience negotiating solutions and/or partnerships with partners and stakeholders in natural resource management.
• Experience working with First Nations’ communities and facilitating First Nations’ consultations or negotiations.
• Experience managing and leading geographically dispersed multi-disciplinary staff.
• Experience establishing collaborative relationships with executives and leading organizational change associated with implementation.
• Experience managing financial resources and/or projects.
• Must possess and maintain a valid BC Class 5 Driver’s Licence or equivalent.
