Denis Casavant

Denis Casavant is a citizen of the North Fraser Metis Association and lives in Richmond BC. He retired in 2016 after working in the BC credit union system for 43 years. He spent 24 years working at community credit unions in the lower mainland and has experience in all facets of retail banking and held positions in senior management overseeing branch operations, marketing and insurance services.  

In the latter half of his career (1998 to 2016), Denis worked for BC Central Credit Union, the provincial trade association, liquidity manager and payments & settlement provider for credit unions in the province of British Columbia. These functions and services were extended to include credit unions in Ontario following the merger of Centrals in 2005 at which time BC Central changed its’ name to Central 1 Credit Union. As the Associate Vice President of Payments and Client Support Services, Denis’ primary responsibilities centred around the oversight of payment processing (cheque clearing, electronic payments, wire transfers, online bill payments, Interac e-transfers, point of sale, ATM transactions and settlements between the individual credit unions in BC, Ontario, the Atlantic provinces and the banks daily.

Since retiring in 2016, Denis has enjoyed summers of golf and winters of travel with his wife Lyn.
