Ministry Mandate and Goals
The Ministry of Skills Training, Employment, and Post-Secondary Education (STEPS) is focused on increasing Métis representation in both the labour market and post-secondary systems through culturally relevant, community-informed programs and services. STEPS works closely with provincial and federal partners, post-secondary institutions, employers, and Métis Chartered Communities to identify and remove barriers to success. Through direct service delivery, policy development, and strategic partnerships, STEPS works to advance Nation priorities and labour market goals that increase educational attainment and support Métis clients in building sustainable, fulfilling careers.
STEPS has dedicated teams who deliver a variety of post-secondary education, skills training, and employment-related programs and services. Each of them is outlined below:

Education and Skills Training Programs and Services
There are seven regional teams and one provincial team that are available to support with education and skills training funding requests. Please refer to the Regional Offices tab under 'Steps Resources' for contact information.

STEPS Program Guidelines
Details about STEPS programs and services are in the STEPS Standards of Practice (SOP). The Standards of Practice (SOP) are intended to maintain clarity and transparency in the delivery of STEPS programs and services. The SOP is updated periodically based on feedback from STEPS staff, MNBC Citizens, and Métis Chartered Communities.

To be eligible to apply for MNBC services, you must be a Métis Citizen.
