Surrey, BC (March 16, 2022) – Métis Nation British Columbia (MNBC) has appointed Colette Trudeau as Acting Deputy Minister and Chief Executive Officer at Métis Nation British Columbia. Ms. Trudeau also serves as Senior Director of Operations and Administration, Digital Government, Women, and Youth, and has been with MNBC for 13 years.
MNBC thanks Daniel Fontaine for his years of service and wishes him well in his future endeavours.
MNBC remains steadfast in its commitment to close the gap on the quality of life of the more than 90,000 self-identifying Métis people in the province through the provision of culturally relevant social and economic programs and services. MNBC continues to welcome Métis people home to their Nation and now has over 22,000 registered Citizens. MNBC has accomplished a great deal on behalf of its citizens, including the acquisition of land for affordable housing, child care spaces, and a range of other programs and services to help Métis individuals, children, and families. MNBC is proud of the ongoing delivery of these critically important programs and services for Citizens
MNBC’s Board of Directors, Chartered Communities, and staff continue with the important work to create financial autonomy, self-government for the Nation, and raise cultural awareness of Métis peoples in BC.
