INVITATION TO 2SLGBTQQIA+ Métis Citizens to Participate
The goal of this project is to inform recommendations and next steps for new programs and services for 2SLGBTQQIA+ Métis citizens across British Columbia. Métis Nation Greater Victoria received funding from the Canadian Institutes of Health Research (CIHR) to support the “Two Worlds, Two-Spirits: Gathering the Circle of 2SLGBTQQIA+ Métis in British Columbia” project, and has partnered with Métis Nation British Columbia, Fraser Valley Metis Association and Le Femmes Michif Otipemisiwak.
Part of this project includes what may be the first of its kind survey for 2SLGBTQQIA+ Métis people in British Columbia. To date, there has been very little information or data gathered on the experiences, needs, concerns or outcomes of 2SLGBTQQIA+ Métis people in BC. The objective of this survey is to gather information to help MNBC and Chartered Communities to identify new programs and services for 2SLGBTQQIA+ Métis people in BC to feel greater belonging and become more connected to their Métis community, and to have access to the types of programs and services that best serve their needs as 2SLGBTQQIA+ Métis citizens.

ABOUT THE SURVEY
Confidentiality:
The survey results are all aggregate. This means that results are rolled up into group level answers and statistics. Many questions have comment boxes. These comments are individual but anonymous.
Optional Nature of All Questions:
This survey is designed as a safe space to share what you would like, and to pass on any questions that you’re not comfortable with. As such, all questions are optional. However, as there is so little information on the needs of 2SLGBTQQIA+ Métis people in BC, anything that you are able to share is very valuable for planning new programs and services.
Flexible Survey Design
Also to assist, you may fill out the questions in any order you choose, and you can also return to update any answers while the survey remains open until April 29, 2022. Please note that once you select “DONE” on the final page, you will not be able to return to add to your answers. The survey takes approximately 1 hour to complete.
Support is Available
Please note that due to the experiences that many 2SLGBTQQIA+ persons have faced in their lives, some of the questions may be difficult to answer or have a triggering effect for some. If you feel in need of support at any time, please call the 24/7 Métis Crisis Line toll free at 1-833-638-4722 for support anytime, or the Métis Elders Line at 1-833-676-3847.
Intended Use of Report
The aggregate results of this survey will be available to all participants of the survey and will be included in a report to be completed in the Fall of 2022. This report will be utilized by MNBC, MNGV and other regional offices to create better programs and services. It is also our objective that the provincial government, and other provincial and federal bodies will reference this report to create more proactive legislation, polices, programs and services to better assist 2SLGBTQQIA+ Métis people of BC and Canada.
GATHERING THE CIRCLE OF 2SLGTBQQIA+ MÉTIS IN BRITISH COLUMBIA:
Once you complete the survey and click “DONE,” you will receive a special invitation to submit and Expression of Interest to participate in a 2 day Gathering in mid-August in the Lower Mainland.
