President Smith Adds Housing & Homelessness and Sport Files to Portfolio



January 21, 2022 (Surrey, BC) – A week ago today, on January 14, Lissa Dawn Smith was officially sworn in as Métis Nation British Columbia’s (MNBC) President, after a by-election held on December 15, 2021. Joining President Smith in being sworn in were three new Regional Women’s Representatives: Carmen Carriere (Region 2), Cheryl Dodman (Region 3), and Laura Chan (Region 6).

Following a meeting with the MNBC Executive, it has been decided that President Smith will add the Ministerial portfolios of Housing & Homelessness and Sport to her duties. Dean Gladue remains Minister of Veterans, and Minister of Skills Training and Employment, focusing on delivering skills training services for Métis individuals with the recently announced $1.4-million in additional funding that MNBC received from the province
