MÉTIS NATION BRITISH COLUMBIA LAUNCHES MÉTIS CHILD CARE BENEFIT

March 1, 2022 (Surrey, BC) – Métis Nation British Columbia (MNBC) is excited to announce that Métis families in B.C, will now have access to additional funding to mitigate the increasing costs of child care. The Métis Child Care Benefit (MCCB) will support Métis families by supplementing the costs for their children to attend quality child care programs within their community.

The framework of the Métis Child Care Benefit Program was approved by Cabinet at their February meeting. The program is being administered by MNBC’s Ministry of Education; details will be available on the MNBC Website. The Métis Early Years Team will distribute information about the Métis Child Care Benefit and will be available to assist families enrolled in the Métis Family Connections Program with their applications.

“Ensuring that our Métis children and families have access to quality child care is vitally important to our Nation,” says Debra Fisher, MNBC Minister of Education. “Our Ministry team will be available to help bridge the gaps to remove barriers and increase accessibility to child care for Métis families and children.”

Families enrolled in the Métis Family Connections Program will be able to apply to the Métis Child Care Benefit as of March 14th, 2022. For more information, contact metisearlyyears@mnbc.ca
