The selected projects through the Chartered Community Project Proposal (CCPP) process exemplify the dedication and innovative spirit of our communities, and we are excited to see these initiatives come to life, benefiting Métis citizens across British Columbia.

Cariboo Chilcotin Métis Association

Project Title: Cultural Centre
Project Summary: This project will create space for cultural and traditional activities and an all-ages educational resource center. Additionally, it will help maintain office space for members and newcomers to access genealogy assistance, local and MNBC registrations and employment support and services.

Rocky Mountain Métis Association

Project Title: Office Upgrade
Project Summary: This project will address both cultural and physical needs by developing an Elders sitting area with bookshelves and a coffee center as well as a kitchen area. Additionally, funding will be spent on upgrading equipment and purchasing cultural materials.

Chilliwack Métis Association

Project Title: Métis House Renovations
Project Summary: This project will upgrade and expand the washroom facilities at Métis House, along with additional upgrades to make the space safer, cleaner and more usable for larger cultural events, meetings and fundraisers. Additionally, there will be upgrades to the walking path, improving wheelchair accessibility, and improving the heating and cooling inside Métis House.

South Okanagan Similkameen Métis Association

Project Title: Office Upgrade
Project Summary: This project will help ensure the office serves as a vibrant hub for Métis cultural expression and enrichment by creating functional and aesthetically pleasing spaces that align with the traditional Métis style, featuring areas such as a storytelling circle and workstations for cultural and artisanal activities.  

Fort St. John Métis Society

Project Title: New Office Renovations
Project Summary: This project will allow for furnishing the office space and make the office available for the community to meet, meetings to be held, and for students to study. Community members will also be able to access virtual healthcare from this space.

Alberni Clayoquot Métis Society

Project Title: Office Upgrades
Project Summary: This project will enhance service delivery to the community by developing an office that is adequately equipped for the community’s specific needs. The space will be inviting and geared towards gatherings, workshops, food preservation, kitchen parties and more.
