Facilities Master Plan

In 2021, Canada and MNBC signed an Indigenous Community Infrastructure Funding Agreement, providing over $25 million to MNBC over four years to support work on addressing the infrastructure needs of our communities. An amendment in March 2022 added nearly $200,000 for Infrastructure Engagement and required MNBC to develop an Infrastructure Engagement Strategy and a Facilities Master Plan. MNBC in partnership with David Nairne and Associates, began engagement events in the winter of 2022 and spring of 2023, culminating in a final report on the engagements received in January 2024.

Commitment to Community-Centric Planning:
MNBC is dedicated to accurately reflecting and addressing the infrastructure needs of Métis communities through comprehensive and statistically significant engagement. This ensures our planning is genuinely community-driven and responsive to the needs of Métis citizens across British Columbia.

Strategic Alignment and Investment:
The Facilities Master Plan will ensure all infrastructure investments and developments support our long-term vision and goals.

Transparency and Future-Focused Development:
MNBC was committed to maintaining transparency and accountability throughout the planning and implementation process. By developing an MNBC-specific Facilities Master Plan, we are setting the foundation for a targeted Housing Strategy and future projects. Engagement events took place in the winter of 2022 and spring of 2023, with a final report on the engagements received in January 2024. This engagement ensures the forthcoming Facilities Master Plan will focus on sustainable and meaningful development that addresses the unique challenges and opportunities for Métis communities.
