President Smith Will Not Seek Re-election



It is with great admiration and respect that we congratulate Lissa Dawn Smith on her remarkable tenure as an elected official of Métis Nation BC. For over 17 years, President Smith has provided exceptional service in various roles on the Board of Directors, including Region 1 Director, Vice President, and now President. Her profound commitment to our citizens and communities has been evident throughout her service. President Smith has been a steadfast advocate for justice and a passionate supporter of our Métis Veterans, ensuring their voices are heard and their contributions recognized.

Beyond her advocacy, President Smith has been a champion for creating a healthy and supportive work environment for our staff, fostering a culture of kindness and collaboration. Her selflessness, kindness, and guidance have been instrumental in MNBC’s growth and success over the years. President Smith’s dedication to our Nation has set a high standard for leadership and has inspired many.

As she steps down, President Smith expressed that she was honoured and humbled to have had the opportunity to serve our Métis Citizens and Chartered Communities. She conveyed her deep gratitude for the trust and support she received throughout her tenure, and for the privilege of working alongside such dedicated nation builders.
