Are you passionate about food security? Want to see MNBC participate in more conservation projects? Have ideas on how Métis can support positive climate actions in BC? We would love to hear from you. MNBC’s Ministry of Environmental Protection, Climate Change and Food Security is planning a workshop and we want you to join!
Our Ministry is rapidly growing, and we want to hear your feedback and perspectives about our 3 key areas of work:
1. Climate change, examples include:
a. Renewable energy, energy efficiency, and low-carbon heating
b. Emergency preparedness and response
c. Climate adaptation
2. Biodiversity/conservation, examples include:
a. Species monitoring
b. Conservation of species at risk
c. Protection restoration of wild habitats
3. Food Security, examples include:
a. Individual and household food security program initiatives
b. Métis food systems and infrastructure
c. Food access and livelihoods
We want to ensure that we are creating programs and research projects that are meaningful and relevant to community members in BC. Our goal is to create our strategic priorities that will help guide us in the work we do over the next few years. For this workshop, we will be gathering at the New Westminster Quay, 900 Quayside Dr, New Westminster, March 9th and 10th 2024.
The workshop will be a full day on Saturday March 9th (8:30am to 4:30pm) and half day on Sunday March 10th (8:30am to 12:00pm). MNBC will cover the costs for all participants to attend (meals, travel, and accommodation)
It is with gratitude and respect that the workshops will be held on the unceded, traditional territory of the Qayqayt First Nation. We would also like to acknowledge that this community is home to the North Fraser Métis Association.
