The Amelia Douglas Institute for Culture and Language in collaboration with MNBC’s Ministry of Culture, Heritage and Language are pleased to present the Métis Wall Pocket Workshop Series, taught by Métis artist Gregory Scofield. Over 4 months of virtual workshops, participants will learn how to create their own Métis style wall pocket. Skilled Métis artists will have the choice to bead, tuft or quill their wall pockets. At the end of the workshop series, the wall pockets will be featured in a temporary exhibition at the Amelia Douglas Institute in Surrey.
The workshop series is open to 12 BC-based Métis participants. The workshop series will start in March 2024 and run until June 2024. All workshop meetings will be held virtually. Participants must commit to attending all workshops.
Please note that this workshop is for Métis artists with intermediate to advanced skills in hand sewing and using mediums such as beading, tufting, quillwork or embroidery. If you are seeking beginner beading, tufting, embroidery or quilling workshops, please follow and register for our Métis Artist Talks workshops.
