About

The Ministry of Poverty Reduction, in partnership with SPARC BC, is supporting Métis Citizens with a history of homelessness by providing the essentials required to build a new future in their homes through the Welcome Home Kits Program.

Eligibility

The Welcome Home Kits Program can support:

  • Individuals/families with lived experience of homelessness who are transitioning to stable housing from a precarious living situation
  • Individuals/families who are fleeing abuse
  • Individuals who are leaving institutional settings
  • Youth transitioning out of care

What the Service Provides

Gift cards will be provided to approved applicants so that they can purchase the following household items for their Welcome Home Kits:

  • Kitchen items
  • Bedding and linens
  • Cleaning supplies
  • Groceries
  • Items identified by the applicant, specific to their housing needs
  • Other essential items

Availability

This Program will provide a limited number of Welcome Home Kits to Métis Citizens in need. The kits contain necessary items for living independently and will assist with the rising costs associated with transitioning through the housing spectrum.
