About the award
The Métis Spirit Award recognizes and celebrates contributions of Métis youth to their culture and community. Recipients of the award demonstrate this through one or more of the following:
Uplifts Métis youth voices and communities and demonstrates a commitment to creating a positive social change |
Exemplifies kindness by demonstrating acts of selflessness or compassion, that positively impact all living beings |
Actively engages with Métis culture, demonstrating dedicated efforts to raise awareness and connect with Métis culture and Michif languages |
Demonstrates active involvement and service in the community, including land stewardship and land-based activities |
Engages in educational, extracurricular, leadership, community service, or athletic initiatives, serving as a positive influence on their peers |
Has overcome adversity or displaying commitment to personal change and growth by overcoming personal or societal barriers |
Eligibility for this award |

Must be between the ages of 15 and 30 and live in BC |
Must not have been a recipient of the award in the preceding year |
Evaluation Process:
The MYBC Committee will evaluate and select five (5) award recipients from all eligible submissions.
The five (5) award recipients will: |

Receive a $300 honoraria |
Be showcased on the MNBC website and social media channels |
Receive an invitation to the Métis Youth Leadership Gathering in Spring of 2024 to be presented the award in-person by MYBC Council (Travel & Accommodation expenses included). |
