Ministry of Youth brought together Métis youth, elders and knowledge carriers across British Columbia in one (virtual) circle to share stories, learn about and practice cultural traditions around healing and well-being from the Métis perspective. Virtual sashing ceremony, elder interview panel, and teachings about plant medicines are only some of the highlights!
MNBC represents nearly 99,000 Métis people in BC, which includes more than 22,000 registered Citizens. MNBC’s mandate is to develop and enhance opportunities for Métis communities by implementing culturally relevant, social, and economic programs, and services.
The Ministry of Elders is assisting our low-income Métis Citizen Elders/Seniors whose income has been impacted by COVID-19 to obtain groceries, household goods or medications.
Métis Nation British Columbia’s (MNBC) Ministry of Elders has confirmed additional funds for the Métis Elders & Seniors Assistance Program (MESAP) formerly known as the Elders Assistance Pilot Program (EAPP). The MESAP will aid lower income Métis Citizens Elders & Seniors purchase health related necessities not covered by the BC Medical Services Plan (MSP). The funds can be used by Elder’s/Seniors for the purchase of items including hearing aids, dentures, walkers, glasses, and more.
