Thank you to the Metis Employment and Training Program for providing me with the financial support I needed to pursue my goal of becoming a police officer.
Following graduation from secondary school, I enrolled at Lethbridge College in their two year Criminal Justice-Policing program. The courses and hands on instruction I received were relevant to policing. I completed my CJP diploma in April of 2012.
Following completion of my studies, I was one of thirty three Aboriginal youth from across Canada chosen to participate in the RCMP Aboriginal Pre-cadet Training Program. All thirty three cadets participated in a three week training period at RCMP Depot in Regina Sask. Upon completion of my training period, I returned to Cran brook where I am now working with the First Nations Policing section out of the local RCMP detachment as a summer student.
My future goal is to become a member of the RCMP. With the financial help and support I received from the MNBC, I know I will be able to achieve my goal.
