- Position: Practical Nurse
I started my education by upgrading my Biology in June of 2010 which was funded for me and shortly after that I started the Practical Nursing program January 2011. I received financial assistance from April 2011 until I completed the program. I had a few problems throughout my journey in this nursing program but I always had the staff to call and talk to and they were always there giving me the best advice I could ask for. I feel very special knowing I was able to receive this funding because I know I would have not been able to do a full time course and work enough hours to pay my bills. With the living expense allowance I was able to focus 100% off my time on my studies and not worry about how I was going to pay my rent.
I'm very thankful for the support MNBC provided to me. I couldn't have completed this program without funding and support when I really needed someone to talk to throughout this program.
I am looking for jobs as a practical nurse in the Lower Mainland but until then I am employed part-time with the Ministry of Children & Families working with children in care and I also part-time with a company called 'Nurse Next Door'.
Big thank you to the staff with the Metis Employment & Training Program for helping me achieve my goal of becoming a nurse.
