In Memoriam – Métis Veteran Gordon Edward McGregor

Gordon Edward McGregor (01 April 1937 – 28 August 2021)

Gordon was born on 01 April 1937 in Vancouver. Gordon was the youngest in the family with older siblings, brother Bill and sister Jean. Gordon grew up in Vancouver and, in search of a challenge in June 1954, joined the Royal Canadian Air Force as a cadet in Vancouver BC and later continued in the Regular Force as an air weapons controller and was also posted in search and rescue. During his service Gordon attained the rank of Leading Air Craftsman (LAC) and served in multiple locations along the operational Pinetree Line radar stations – Canadian Forces Station Moisie (PQ), Canadian Forces Station Sydney (NS), and Canadian Forces Station Baldy Hughes (BC) until he was released from the RCAF in October 1965. Gordon was a proud Métis Veteran and has been a member of the MNBC Métis Veterans since 03 April 2008 serving as the Region 4 Veteran Representative, Treasurer of the Committee as well as, an active citizen of West Kootenay Métis Society. Gordon was involved with the Royal Canadian Legion in Nelson and regularly carried the Métis flag in the Remembrance Day parades as well as placed wreaths on behalf of his Métis community.

Gordon leaves behind Dianne, his wife of 50 years, son Stuart, daughter-in-law Michelle, grandchildren Samuel and Kjersten and daughter Elizabeth as well as the family pets Tillie and Lowry.
