MNBC Announces New Chief Executive Officer

Métis Nation British Columbia Announces Daniel Fontaine as Chief Executive Officer

SURREY, BC, April 29, 2020 – Métis Nation British Columbia (MNBC), the Governing body for Métis in BC, today announced that Daniel Fontaine has been named as Chief Executive Officer.  Mr. Fontaine’s employment with MNBC will commence on May 25, 2020.

Fontaine has more than 15 years of senior management experience in public relations and governmental affairs, including serving as Chief of Staff to Mayor of Vancouver, Sam Sullivan.  Daniel is departing his current position of CEO at the BC Care Providers Association.

“Daniel is the right choice for CEO, and I am pleased he is joining MNBC”, said Clara Morin Dal Col, President of MNBC.  “His extensive experience in governmental affairs will strengthen relations between MNBC and all levels of government.  We believe that his leadership experience will advance the vision and mission of MNBC. On behalf of the Board of Directors, I would like to thank Christopher Gall for serving as Executive Director of MNBC for the past year.”

Previously, Fontaine was Chief Public Affairs Officer for Mitacs, a non-profit organization that links industries and post-secondary institutions to advance relevant industry research, from 2008-2012.  Fontaine was also employed as Director of Communications for 2010 Legacies Now, a non-profit organization that created lasting social legacies from the infrastructure and funding provided through the 2010 Vancouver Olympic and Paralympic Winter Games, from 2004-2005.

Fontaine received a Bachelor of Arts in Political Studies from the University of Manitoba, and a Communications Certificate in Media Writing and Public Relations from Langara College.
