Métis Nation of British Columbia offers congratulations to Premier John Horgan on the appointment of his new cabinet, and Murray Rankin on his appointment as the Minister for Indigenous Relations and Reconciliation.
“MNBC is pleased to learn that Murray Rankin has been appointed the new B.C. Minister for Indigenous Relations and Reconciliation. We are looking forward to working with Minister Rankin in advancing reconciliation for the Métis people, both through the Métis Nation Relationship Accord and the Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples Act.” – President Clara Morin Dal Col
During the election campaign, MNBC sent a letter to Premier Horgan regarding the main challenges of Métis people in B.C. It was well received, and MNBC appreciated the response provided by the NDP and their commitments to the Métis people.
MNBC appreciates the continued commitments of the B.C. NDP towards reconciliation and upholding the United Nations Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples. MNBC looks forward to continuing to work collaboratively to improve the relationship between the Government of B.C. and the Métis Nation, and would welcome the opportunity to meet with the new Minister at his earliest convenience.
