Second Annual Outstanding Chartered Community Awards

Métis Nation British Columbia will once again be honouring another “Outstanding Chartered Community”. This is an opportunity to highlight, celebrate, and acknowledge Chartered Communities across the province for their contributions to our Métis citizens and the community. President Clara Morin Dal Col and the MNBC Awards and Recognition Committee are inviting Métis Citizens or MNBC Chartered communities to submit a nomination for their community for this award.
In order to be nominated for the award a community must:
- Be an MNBC Chartered Community in good standing
- Be a Society in Good standing with the BC Societies Branch
- Be financially solvent with healthy operating practices in the community
- Have an active President, Vice-President and Board of Directors
Other qualities that will help a community qualify for the award:
Cultural Promotion: the community provides cultural activities such as Louis Riel Day; supports and encourages promotion of our culture, heritage, language and identity.
Community Volunteers: The community has a network of volunteers that help to deliver programs and coordinate events. The community is able support and promote volunteerism.
Health and Wellness: The community promotes the health and wellness of its members and ensures local health organizations are culturally sensitive to Métis needs.
Committed Leadership: The community elects a Board of Directors, President and Vice President at their Annual General Meetings. Demonstrates active involvement in governance and leadership in their community.
Administration and Accountability: The community participates in administering programs, keeps appropriate financial records and maintains accurate reporting to funders in good standing.

Award nominations will be reviewed by the MNBC Awards and Recognition Committee, and the first, second and third award recipients will be notified prior to the AGM. The award recipients will be announced at the Métis Nation British Columbia Annual General Meeting in Prince George.
