MNBC Annual General Meeting 2019 Official Notice

Welcome to the official site for the 2019 MNBC Annual General Meeting!

The Métis Nation British Columbia (MNBC), in accordance with the MNBC Constitution, HEREBY gives notice of the 2019 Annual General Meeting (AGM). 

This year the AGM will take place at the Prince George Conference and Civic Centre, located at 808 Canada Games Way, Prince George, BC, on Friday, September 13th.  Opening Ceremonies will commence on Friday afternoon and the business of the AGM will continue through to Sunday the 15th.

Please read the following information carefully for important details relating to the AGM, and all other scheduled meetings and events.

Who Should Register:            

  • MNBC Board of Directors 
  • MNBC Staff (as required)
  • MNBC BC Métis Assembly of Natural Resources (BCMANR) Regional Captains
  • MNBC Chartered Community Leadership - MNBC invites each Chartered Community to register two (2) delegates, per Community, to attend the 2019 AGM. Example: Your Community President and Vice President, (or) alternates. 
  • Métis Veterans BC (MVBC) Regional Representatives - Regional Representatives (alternates must be members of MVBC and pre-approved by the MVBC Chair, Dave Armitt)
  • MNBC Senators

IMPORTANT: 

* Métis Women BC (MWBC) Regional and Community Representatives - Registration packages were sent separately and directly to all Regional Métis Women BC  (MWBC) Representatives and Presidents of each Chartered Community for a Women’s Community Representative to attend the Annual Métis Women – BC Meeting and MNBC AGM.  Métis Women Community Representatives are required to be registered MNBC Citizens to attend.

* Métis Youth BC (MYBC) Regional and Community Representatives - Registration packages were sent separately and directly to Métis youth interested in attending the MNBC AGM and the MYBC Youth Leadership Gathering. Information regarding the MYBC Youth Leadership Gathering is sent to all Regional Métis Youth BC (MYBC) Representatives and Presidents of each Chartered Community with a call for all interested Métis youth to register.  Spaces for this event are limited.  Applications to attend the MYBC Youth Leadership Gathering will be first come first served with priority given to MNBC Youth Citizens aged 18+ who will be able to participate as a voting member of the MNBC AGM.

IMPORTANT: 

All AGM Voting delegates and alternates must be card holding Métis Nation BC Citizens and must present their valid MNBC Citizenship Cards at the time of voters registration. 


(Please read carefully for the following travel and accommodation details and conditions)

TRAVEL 

All travel for delegates and required attendance for events and meetings will be arranged by MNBC's Travel Coordinator & Special Projects Assistant, Andrea Lopushinsky.

As per MNBC Travel Policy, please note the following:  

  • MNBC cannot be responsible for expenses incurred as a result of any non-approved travel changes prior to travel once confirmed.  Any costs incurred by un-approved travel will be at the passenger’s expense.

ACCOMMODATION

MNBC staff have secured hotel accommodation at the Marriott Courtyard and Ramada Hotels for all delegates and required attendance.

Check-in is not until 3 PM on the day of arrival and Check-out is at 11 AM.  Please contact the Travel Coordinator if you require a late check out due to your travel requirements.

As per MNBC Travel Policy, please note the following conditions:  

  • Delegates who live within a 5o kilometre radius of the AGM venue will not be eligible for hotel accommodation.  Any special considerations must meet prior approval.  Please submit to Travel Coordinator for appropriate authorization.
  • Accommodations will be eligible based on the most cost-effective method of travel. 
  • MNBC cannot be responsible for expenses incurred other than ordinary expenses for attending the AGM.  The negotiated terms for the AGM guest rate only covers a maximum of 2 persons per room.  Should you bring additional guests, MNBC cannot be responsible for covering the higher room rate as a result of additional cost relating to additional guests.  Any non-approved changes prior to travel once confirmed will be at the passenger’s expense.

EXPENSES

Travel and meal allowances will be provided for delegates and required attendance and will be dispursed based on the most cost-effective method of travel, inclusive of meals and accommodation.  Travel cheques will be distributed to all delegates and required attendance on the last day of the AGM.
