National Indigenous Peoples Day - A Message from MNBC
Posted by Métis Nation British Columbia on
On June 21, we recognize, honour and celebrate National Indigenous Peoples Day. As we showcase our diversity and unique cultures and traditions of the Métis, First Nations and Inuit peoples we also pay respect to the many contributions indigenous peoples make and have made in our country today, and throughout the history of Canada.
Our governing nation (MNBC) of the Métis people in BC have much to celebrate this year. With the recent signing of the Joint Jurisdiction Agreement with the province of BC to the more recent National ISET Accord signing with the federal government, in Ottawa this past week, Métis are striving and we will continue to achieve these milestones and address the issues that the Métis Nation face on every level. We are encouraged by the relationships with our provincial and federal governments and we celebrate the commitment efforts under the MNRA II Agreement, signed on Louis Riel Day, November 16 of 2017, between the Métis Nation and the province of BC.
We encourage you to bring your family and friends and take part in the many celebrations that are happening all across our province here in BC and those around our country.
On behalf of the MNBC Board of Directors and Staff, we wish you a happy and safe National Indigenous Peoples Day!
MNBC Offices will be closed on Thursday, June 21st.
