Surrey, BC - The Métis Youth British Columbia (MYBC) Committee and Métis Women British Columbia (MWBC) Committee will be hosting the “Sashing our Warriors” Campaign Launch and Healing Circle at the Fort Langley National Historic Site on November 25, 2017 from 11:00 AM to 3:30 PM in Langley, B.C. This event is a part of a larger holistic grassroots campaign intended to create the education and awareness needed to prevent further violence against Métis women and girls and to support individuals and communities to heal and rebuild through the power of Métis ceremony.

From 11:00 AM until 2:00 PM, attendees will participate in a “Campaign Launch” which will provide an opportunity to learn about and make commitments to addressing violence against Métis women and girls. In committing to taking these steps, attendees will participate in a “Sashing our Warriors” ceremony and will be able to collect materials to bring back to their communities in order to continue the education and healing needed across the Province.

From 2:00 PM until 3:30 PM, a small group of attendees will participate in an MWBC and Elder-led “Healing Circle” which will provide a culturally-guided opportunity to discuss and heal from their own experiences of violence.

We would be honoured if you would share in the launch of this holistic grassroots campaign.
