Kootenays Métis Communities Gathered for Leadership Session

February 28, 2017 (Surrey, BC) - Métis Nation BC Chartered Community Leadership Sessions are underway in BC for 2017 and this past weekend Sparwood and Nelson were on the list for sessions.
President Morin Dal Col, Regional Director for the Kootenays Marilynn Taylor and Chartered Community Leadership from Elk Valley Métis and Nelson & District Métis were in attendance for the Governance and Leadership sessions. The Saturday session in Sparwood brought out more than 20 members, while the meeting in Nelson on Sunday had the full participation of the Leadership Executive.
MNBC Executives and Registry Staff presented on a number of topics including updating Citizens on Métis Nation happenings at the national and provincial levels, Métis Citizenship, Database Management for Community Membership, Community Governance and the history of Métis in BC.
The next sessions to be scheduled will be in the Northeast region in March and in the Northwest Region in April. More information will be posted on the MNBC website shortly.
