First-Ever National Métis Health Forum
Posted by Métis Nation BC on
On Feb. 26th in Ottawa all Métis Governing Member Health Ministers came together in the first-ever National Métis Health Forum to present and showcase to government our health needs and accomplishments in each province.
Métis Nation Minister of Health Clara Morin Dal Col opened the Forum with welcoming remarks and gave closing remarks thanking Federal Indigenous Services Minister Jane Philpott’s address to the Forum.
The Forum, with more than 150 delegates from across the Métis Nation and provincial and federal governments in attendance was a huge success, with federal and provincial officials learning about the Métis and the resources required for us to make a difference for the health care needs of Métis families.
The idea for the first-ever National Health Forum came from the Métis Nation Health Committee which meets on a quarterly basis. It is chaired by Minister Morin Dal Col, and all Métis Nation Ministers of Health are members of the Committee, including MNBC Health Minister Susie Hooper.
