West Chilcotin Timber Frames is an Indigenous-owned and family-operated timber frame building company specializing in timber frames, cabins, outdoor structures, and community projects. Our work blends traditional craftsmanship with modern construction techniques, ensuring high-quality, durable, and sustainable builds.
We’re looking for a General Contractor to support our growing projects and ensure smooth operations on-site. This role is ideal for someone wanting to live remotely in one of the most beautiful parts of British Columbia. We are looking for a good fit of character and good work ethic over skills and experience. strong leadership skills, hands-on experience in construction is a benefit, but ultimately need to buy into the process of our passion for building for performance.
Responsibilities:
Assist in project planning, and execution
Oversee subcontractors and trades to ensure quality workmanship and efficiency
Work closely with the lead contractor to ensure projects stay on time and within budget
Assist with material ordering, logistics, and on-site coordination
Ensure compliance with safety regulations and building codes
Troubleshoot construction challenges and provide practical solutions
Maintain clear communication with clients, suppliers, and team members
Qualifications:
Proven experience in general contracting, construction management, or a related field
Strong knowledge of timber frame construction (or willingness to learn)
Ability to read and interpret blueprints, plans, and technical drawings
Familiarity with BC building codes and regulations
Excellent leadership, problem-solving, and organizational skills
Ability to work in remote locations and adapt to changing site conditions
Valid driver’s license and ability to travel to job sites as needed
Heavy equipment and heavy trailer endorsement would be beneficial
Preferred Qualifications:
Red Seal or equivalent certification in carpentry or a related trade
Trade qualifications in any British Columbia Red Seal trade
Heavy Equipment Operator Certification
Heavy Trailer endorsement or Class 3 drivers license
CPD accredited Courses from CHBA or qualified institute
