Flexible work options are available; this position may be able to work up to two (2) days at home per week subject to an approved telework agreement. Applicants who do not fully meet the required qualifications may be considered for this position, but at a lower classification.
Certification Standards Officer
$76,071.18 - $86,658.48 annually
BC Timber Sales (BCTS) is a unique program of the Ministry of Forests. Working collaboratively with regional and district operations, BCTS plans, develops, and auctions a substantial portion of the province’s annual available timber volume. The Certification Standards Officer (CSO) is responsible for the co-ordination, implementation, monitoring, and improvement of forest certification systems and safety across BCTS.

Qualifications for this role include:
• Graduation from an approved technical institute with a diploma or a degree in resource or forestry management and three (3) years of experience in one (1) or more operational field-forestry activities, OR
• An equivalent combination of education and five (5) years of experience in one (1) or more operational field-based forestry activity.
• Applicants must be registered or eligible for registration with Forest Professionals British Columbia (FPBC) as a Registered Forest Technologist or equivalent.
• Experience with Environmental Management Systems, Sustainable Forest Management and Safety Certification Systems.
• Must possess at minimum a valid Class 5 BC Driver’s Licence that does not limit or restrict the ability to conduct the duties of the job.
Operational field forestry activities include the following: Timber harvesting monitoring/conformance, cut-block development, forest road engineering, silviculture and timber tenure development and administration.
Preference may be given to applicants with one (1) or more of the following:
• Experience with auditing forest management activities and processes.
• Three (3) years of experience in one (1) or more operational field-based forestry activity.
