Samson LaMontagne's Introduction to Southern Michif workshop series

Exciting news! The Ministry of Culture, Heritage and Language is pleased to announce that we are bringing back Samson LaMontagne's Introduction to Southern Michif workshop series this Fall!

Classes have been tailored so that each week will build on the previous week while also introducing new topics. By the end of the workshop series, participants will be able to use basic introductions, greetings, and have short conversations in Southern Michif. Special topics will include colours, days of the week, numbers, animals, kitchen vocabulary, and more.

The classes will be offered on the following dates. Each class is 1 hour long. Registration for the workshop series will be on a first come, first served basis, as there is a maximum capacity of 40 spots. A waitlist will be created for the workshop series once it fills up. We understand that notice for this offering is short. Shifting priorities in our ministry allowed us to make time for this offering, when we had previously thought we would not be able to proceed with workshops this fall. If you are unable to make this opportunity fit in your fall schedule please let us know so we can add you to our waitlist for future offerings.

• Michif revitalization is a major goal of the Métis Nation and MNBC. We would like to extend our utmost gratitude and appreciation to all of the Elders, Knowledge Keepers, Citizens, Staff, Volunteers, self-identifying Métis, and supporters who are working so hard and in good faith to help revitalize our beautiful Michif languages.

We hope to be able to accommodate everyone who wishes to participate. Should the workshop series fill up, your name will be added to a waitlist, and we will contact you should future workshops become available.
