- Position: Registered Respiratory Therapist
I want to express my gratitude to Metis Nation British Columbia for the ongoing financial support I have received during my post secondary education. Six years ago I started at the University of British Columbia doing a Bachelor of Science. During my two years of general science studies there, I explored many career options and finally found a career that I would be passionate about. The career was respiratory therapy and the program was in Kamloops at Thompson Rivers University. During that time, I was living with my mom and paying tuition with student loans. I came to realize that supporting myself and paying my own tuition and books in Kamloops would be nearly impossible. Around that time, I was at a Metis meeting and heard that MNBC might offer some support for Metis students. I quickly learned more and applied for the program which only had fifty spots in all of BC. I was sent a letter of acceptance and to this day I know I could not have accepted the spot without the financial support of MNBC. Now, four years later, I have my dream job as a full time Registered Respiratory Therapist in Abbotsford Regional Hospital. I enjoy the work everyday and am so thankful for the opportunity I was given.
Thank you again.
