To ensure a smooth transition of the Métis Rent Supplement Program to our new software system, Laserfiche, we require all participants to submit a new online application for this extension. In the future, only a much shorter questionnaire will be needed for subsequent extensions.
Please note that failure to submit the new application on Laserfiche, future questionnaires, or an updated Notice of Assessment within the appropriate timeframe will result in removal from the program. Should you be removed, you may re-apply by submitting a complete application (including all supporting documents), but you will be placed on the waitlist if the program is fully subscribed.
If you have any questions or need help with the new application process, please contact your chartered community or our housing line at 604-557-5851 (Ext. 2077).
We appreciate your cooperation during this transition and look forward to continuing to support you through the Métis Rent Supplement Program.

FAQ's:
Am I removed from the program?
No. If you are currently enrolled in the program and asked to fill out the new application you are not being removed. You are being asked to fill out the new application so your information can be recorded in the new system.
Do I have to submit my documents again if I am already on the program?
Yes. For the new application all 5 documents (tenancy agreement, proof of residency, proof of MNBC citizenship, most recent notice of assessment, direct deposit form/void cheque) will have to be resubmitted so they can be recorded in the new system.
Does this count as my questionnaire?
Yes, this counts as the questionnaire for those currently on the program for their upcoming extension. It will determine if an applicant is within the program guidelines and eligible for another 6-month extension. For any future extensions, the applicant will receive a link to the questionnaire (it will have the same questions as it does now) in the usual timeframe.
Does this change the processing time?
No, this does not change the processing time. It still takes 4 – 8 weeks due to the high volume of applicants we receive every month but the new system should help to reduce those waits in the near future.
Why is the Métis Rent Supplement Program limiting new applications? The program has reached its full capacity for the year due to high demand. To manage this, we are now limiting new applications until additional funding can be secured.
What happens if I submit a new application now? If your application is complete with all supporting documents, it will be placed on a waitlist. Applications will be processed as space becomes available in the program.
Will the program still accept applications for crisis situations? Yes, in crisis situations, we may still accept applications at our discretion, even if it means running a deficit for the year.
How long will I have to wait if I’m on the waitlist? We cannot provide a specific timeframe for processing waitlisted applications. Your position in the queue will depend on when a current participant exits the program and how many complete applications are ahead of you.
Are there alternative resources available while I wait? Yes, we recommend exploring alternative support options such as the BC Rent Bank or local Homeless Prevention Programs.
What is MNBC doing to address the high demand for the program? MNBC is actively seeking additional funding to expand the program's capacity and continue supporting Métis citizens.
